TE Connectivity (TE), a global leader in connection and sensor solutions in bensheim, Germany, announced today the launch of its new LITEFORCE terminal technology. The new technology aims to use more and more high-pin connectors in motor vehicles to deal with the growing problem of manual labor costs for auto parts makers.

Global trends, such as sustainability, security and lifestyle changes, are driving demand for connected cars, which require more electronic devices, including electronic controls (ECU). This will increase the use of high pin number connectors, which will require more manpower to complete the assembly of these connectors. This extra physical exertion of workers may cause unergonomic discomfort in the workplace and long-term health problems for workers, which may lead to lost hours.

The LITEFORCE terminal technology is designed to meet the needs of modern vehicles and to eliminate these concerns about workers' health. It can also be used to improve the current capacity and vibration resistance of the connector.

TE Connectivity senior chief product engineer Michael Leidner, said: "TE LITEFORCE terminal technology USES the waveform terminal structure, compared with the standard spherical plane type terminal structure, can reduce as much as 50% of the terminal orthogonal force, and will not affect the performance of vibration resistance. The application of this technology to experience the car terminal, we to the car manufacturers provide a way to protect workers work, namely, under the condition of without increasing the insertion force, increase the connector pin number. This also means that you can design high-value plug-in assist functions to assist the connector during assembly.

In addition, the use of the new terminal technology can increase the vibration resistance of the connector up to two serious levels. In both cases, the load flow can be increased by up to 25% compared with standard terminal technology.

Our LITEFORCE technology will be applied to TE's MQS, AMP MCP and MCON terminal series.
